Animals

Animals are featured in Stardew Valley. They will have to be raised in a Barn, Stable, Coop, etc.

Pets

At a certain point you will be able to choose whether you would like a pet to have around the farm. Your options are shown below. Currently there doesn't seem to be any specific benefit to having a pet other than just having a companion.

You can buy a stable at the Carpenter's Shop and receive a horse.

Barn animals are generally large mammals.

Environment Animals

It is unknown exactly where most of these animals live. You can't interact with them, and they seem to vanish after fleeing or passing the player.
