Artifacts

Artifacts are items that can be donated to the Stardew Valley Museum & Library and have their own collections tab in the player's inventory menu. Rewards are given from Gunther for donating some specific artifacts, as well as for reaching certain milestones for the total amount of donations made to the Museum.

Sources

Artifacts can be obtained in a variety of ways. Note that not all methods of obtaining artifacts apply to all artifacts.

• Tilling Artifact Spots on the ground with a hoe. These are found in nearly any map region and appear as "three wriggling worms" poking out of the ground (not to be confused with Seed Spots, which look more like three blades of waving grass).
• Tilling areas of the ground in The Mines and the Skull Cavern that are made of soil.
• Dropped from some monsters, typically ones encountered in The Mines or the Skull Cavern.
• Fishing Treasure Chests and Golden Fishing Treasure Chests found while fishing may also give certain artifacts, with the loot chances varying between the two depending on the player's progress.
• There is a 3.6% chance for any item in an Artifact Trove's loot pool with nearly all of the items being artifacts (but not all artifacts).
• Solving certain Secret Notes may reward a specific artifact.
• Bone Nodes at the Ginger Island Dig Site have a 0.8% chance to give bone-related artifacts when mined.
• Breaking open Geodes at the Blacksmith or in a Geode Crusher.
