The Bear is a brief character that lives in the Secret Woods and can be encountered after finding Secret Note #23. It is possible the same bear is encountered during Emily's 10th friendship event.
Strange Note[]
Finding Secret Note #23 will begin the Strange Note quest. The secret note reads, "If yoo can reed dis... come to seecrit wuds. Pleez bring may-pal serrup."
The player may then travel to the Secret Woods (with one Maple Syrup in their inventory) any time between 6am and 7pm. The bear will thank them for the syrup, and grants them the Bear's Knowledge special power, tripling the sell value of all Blackberries and Salmonberries.
Emily's Event[]
After reaching 10 hearts of friendship with Emily, the player will may go on a camping trip with her after 10pm by entering the Secret Woods. A bear shows up and makes grunting noises, scaring both the player and Emily, before sniffing around the camp and leaving.
