The Dark Shrine of Selfishness will turn your children into doves, taking them away forever, if you give a prismatic shard.
After using the shrine, two secret events may occur. When watching TV on the 26th of Fall, picking the "???" option will cause an Ancient Doll to appear on your screen and deliver a creepy message:
“You've brought this upon yourself... now I'm free... Hee hee hee!”
After this, the Witch's Hut will have an Ancient Doll that will fly around and attack your character. If the Doll is killed, it respawns when the player leaves and returns to the Witch's Hut. Killing the Doll counts towards the Monster Eradication Goal for bats.
The second event is a telephone call:
“You place the receiver to your ear, and are met with a roiling, abrasive static. But wait... beneath it all, you can make out something else... an otherworldly voice... 'Y-O-U H-A-V-E F-O-R-S-A-K-E-N U-S'"
