The Raccoon is a character that shows up in the Cindersap Forest. He tasks the player with retrieving various items in the quest The Giant Stump, to aid him in starting a family. He his later joined by his wife and their gaze of kits, and unlocks access to the Raccoon Wife's Shop.
The first raccoon is the only one that shows dialogue, but will only make sounds a typical chattering raccoon may make. The number of kits seen, poking their heads out of windows and crevices of their home, will increase gradually as the player continues to help the raccoon family.
The Giant Stump[]
A strong storm random event must first happen over night, felling a large tree just west of the Cindersap Forest's north entrance. The player may choose to repair it, at which point it becomes the Giant Stump (location) and home of the raccoon.
After meeting the player, he starts The Giant Stump questline, divided into five main requests. Each request will require two items from the player, selected at random from a set pool of items. Items like Smoked Fish will change depending on the season. After the player has helped with 5 requests, the main questline is done but requests from the raccoon can still be completed an endless number of times for item rewards instead.
After his initial request is completed, the player will have access to the Raccoon Wife's shop and any rewards obtained from completing the first 6 requests will be available for trade.

The Raccoon will ask for two items; one Crab Pot fish and one Smoked Fish of a fish type related to the current season. The seeds given to the player for completing the request are based on the season it's completed in as well, but all seed types will be available in the shop.

Raccoon Wife's Shop[]
After reaching sufficient progress in the quest line, the Raccoon Wife's Shop becomes available, offering unique barter-trades that are not found anywhere else in the game. More items for trade are unlocked with some of the first five help requests being completed.
