Sam

"Sam is an outgoing, friendly guy who is brimming with youthful energy. He plays guitar and drums, and wants to start a band with Sebastian as soon as he has enough songs together. However, he does have a habit of starting ambitious projects and not finishing them. Sam is a little stressed about the impending return of his father, who has been away for years due to his line of work."

Sam (Samson)^[source?] is an NPC and one of the twelve marriage candidates who lives in Stardew Valley. He lives in Pelican Town with his mother Jodi and his little brother Vincent. His father, who is in the military, will eventually return home and live with them as well.

Sam has a disregard for authority, not understanding why he should respect someone he doesn't really know, such as the governor. He's not afraid to break rules, and according to Sebastian, he holds the record for most community service hours in the valley because of this.

Sam has a part-time job at JojaMart, and he doesn't seem to enjoy it that much. Still, he does like their cola. On Fridays, he meets up with Sebastian and Abigail at the Stardrop Saloon to hang out and play billiards, though he isn't very good at it, often becoming frustrated, much to Sebastian's amusement.

While his father is away, Sam worries for his safety, hoping he'll return home in one piece, if at all.

Sam will be jamming out with Sebastian. He talks about how he wants to make a band, but he doesn't know what kind of music to play. He'll ask you what kind of music you like, all of the responses are worth 50 friendship points but will determine the genre Sam's band adopts.

"High-energy dance music" : Sam says that's the same style he was thinking about for the band. He thanks you for the suggestion and he's convinced it'll be a huge success. Sebastian only replies, "...Okay". The cutscene ends with Sam saying he just needs to find someone to play the drums.

Go to the beach while sunny during first year.

Details

You meet Sam and his brother. Sam will tell you that he's looking after Vincent now that his dad is out fighting the war. Hearing his dad being mentioned Vincent comes over to asks if their dad is ever gonna return. Vincent says that he's heard the 'grown-ups' saying their troops are failing. Sam reassures him their dad will come back. After that Vincent goes off to continue playing, and Sam turns to you and confesses that he's not sure if their dad is ever gonna come back and that their troops are going down rapidly. He asks if you think he did the right thing by lying to Vincent. You then have two response options:

"You did the right thing. Kids should have hope." - He'll say that you're right, kids should dream and hope while they can.
"It's best to be honest with kids." - He seems a bit surprised at first, but then admits that kids will have to learn the world is cruel one way or another.

He then mentions that the band is coming together and they found a drummer, Abigail, and Sebastian really wanted her in the band.

Four Hearts []

Enter Sam's house around 10am.

Details

Sam will say "Oh hi (name), I was just about to make a snack, here let me make something for you". Then he'll drop the egg and make a mess, his mom will come rushing in asking what happened. You are given three response options:

"Sam dropped the snack as he was handing it to me." -10 friendship points. He'll agree and his mom will say it's not a big deal. He'll offer to clean it up and his mom will say thank you with a heart, the scene will end. If you talk to him after he'll say "sorry about earlier".

"Sam handed me the snack and then I dropped it." +50 friendship points. He'll agree. His mom will say thank you for telling the truth and that it's not a big deal. Sam will offer to clean up. If you talk to him after, he'll say he's sorry about earlier.
"Sam dropped it on purpose. He thought it would be funny." -50 friendship points. Sam will say "What!? he/she's lying!" his mom will then answer "You did WHAT, Sam?! What's gotten into you?!" He gives up. And with a sad look on his face says he will clean up. If you talk to him after, he'll say that he is still angry at you and that he doesn't understand why you would lie.

Go into town any day after noon.

Sam is skating, after doing a grind he is caught by the Mayor. The Mayor is angry and tells him to stop and that he could break something. They turn to you and ask your opinon, you can then side with Sam or against him.

"[side with Sam]" - Sam will say "Exactly, if there was a park in town I could ride there and everyone would be happy." The mayor will say he thought you were more mature than that and will ask Sam not to damage anything in the future. Sam will agree and the mayor will walk off, and Sam then says "Did you see that trick, it was rad."
"[side with mayor]" - The mayor agrees with you and tells Sam to be more careful. Sam feels insulted and says he won't skate anymore at all. The mayor tells him skating is alright but he should be careful to not damage people's property. Sam agrees and the mayor will walk off, and Sam then says "Did you see that trick, it was rad."
[I'm staying out of this one]- Sam will seem nonplussed ("Alright."). Mayor Lewis will ask Sam not to damage anything in the future. Sam will agree and the mayor will walk off. Sam then says "Did you see that trick, it was rad."

Sam will visit you after you leave your house in the morning.

Details
Sam invites you to his band's first concert. He tells you to meet him at the bus stop at 4pm. Go to the bus stop at 4 pm to trigger the rest of the event. The concert goes great and after receiving a lot of compliments he tells the crowd that none of it would be possible without you.

After you reach 10 hearts, you will receive a letter from Sam the following morning. Enter town after 8pm afterwards.

Something between us 123 — Special between us

You will meet Sam outside of his house. He says it's cold outside and sneaks you into his room to talk privately. He admits he's falling for you, and then his mom knocks on the door. He has you hide in the bed. His mom comes in and asks why he's sweating and red in the face, and Sam says he's just been doing push-ups. She wishes him good night and leaves. You are presented with the option to:

Stand up. If you pick this one, Sam goes on to admit he has feelings for you and that the two of you could have something special together. You're then presented with the options to 'move closer to Sam' or 'walk toward the window'.
- If you walk over to him, Sam kisses you and says "I'm going to be thinking about this night for a long time."
- If you walk toward the window (you reject Sam's advances), Sam says "I see...Sorry, I guess I had the wrong idea. I'll see you around.".

Stay in the bed. If you pick this one, Sam crawls into bed with you, kisses you, and says "I always knew there was something special between us."

Marriage[]

Details

After marriage, Sam will move into your house with you. An alcove filled with his things (a bookshelf, guitar, computer and keyboard) will be built adjoining your bedroom. Sam will occasionally stand in front of his guitar and lament that he no longer has the drive to play it, but "that's fine."

Sometimes you will find him outside of your House and he'll tell you that he watered all of your plants or on rainy days feed all animals.

After the birth of your first child, Sam will happily comment that he's given up being a musician, and is a family man now.
