Stardew Valley: The Board Game is a 2021 board game based on the 2016 video game of the same name. It was developed by Cole Medieros and ConcernedApe. In this game, 1 to 4 players, ages 13 and up, have to build a farm, grow crops, explore, and restore the valley. By befriending the local villagers, players earn hearts that allow them to reveal hidden goals. With them working together, they keep Joja Corporation from taking over the valley.
History[]
In 2018, Eric Barone and Cole Medeiros, introduced online through their mutual friend Matt Griffin, played a co-op game of Stardew Valley and discussed the idea of making a Stardew Valley board game. They didn't know exactly what it would look like, but they knew that the game had all the components of a great board game.
Over the next year, they iterated through many prototypes. They knew it'd be collaborative, but wondered how they would "win" the game. Eventually the combination of Community Center Bundles and Grandpa's Goals emerged, providing a way to engage with all aspects of Stardew Valley.
The second year was spent playtesting and refining, as well as taking special care with the art style. Mechanics of the game were honed and adjusted. The art went through many iterations. A lot of people helped along the way, and with each new playthrough the game got a little bit better.
Eric invested a lot of time into this project, whatever he could spare while still developing new content for the video game. Cole put in countless nights and weekends, as that was the only time he had available.
This board game was printed and assembled by Delano Games in Michigan and shipped via Quartermaster Logistics in Florida in 2021. Designed by ConcernedApe in Seattle and Cole Medeiros in California. Published by ConcernedApe.

- Some Season Cards are Festival Cards, however, which only have one effect explained on the card.
- Planning Phase
- Players may trade items or resources, discuss their intentions for their turns, and place their pawns in one Location.
- Action Phase
- Players may either take two actions in one location or take one action in one location, move 1 space along a path, then take another action at another location.
- If a player moves along a path, they are allowed to forage. "Forage" means to take a facedown Forage or Tree tile from an area that borders the path they are taking. Normally, the player may only take 1. While tree tiles are obtained through Foraging, they are not considered Forageables.

When the player explores the Mines, what they can find is based on the mine's Level Card (how deep into the mines the players have gone) and the mine's Map Card. They can find things like ore, geodes, and items, encounter monsters, or even find stairs to go down to a deeper level.
The player rolls two Stardew Dice, and uses their face-up images as X and Y coordinates on the Map Card to determine what they encounter.
Players that start with the Mining Proficiency or the Pickaxe item will generally have an easier time exploring the mines.
The Mines is 12 levels deep. If a player reaches the bottom of the mines, they gain an Epic Item.
Buy Buildings[]
The player can purchase any number of buildings from Robin, for a cost of Gold and Materials.
Each game features 4 buyable buildings. Two of them, the Barn and the Coop, are fixed. The two others are randomly selected.

Fishing[]
Fishing is an action that can be done at the Mountain, Forest, or Beach.
At the lower-right corner of the the board there is a Fishing Track, representing fish that can currently be caught. Each fish tile has Icons representing die faces. If a player performs the Fishing Action, they roll the 3 Stardew Dice. If the dice's icons match the fish's icons, the icons can be spent to catch the fish, placing the tiles into the player's inventory. One dice face can only be attributed to one fish. If a fish is successfully caught, the remaining fish tiles slide to the right and new tile(s) fill out the track immediately, by randomly grabbing them from the Fishing Bag..
Fish Tiles are divided into 4 categories: Ocean Fish, Lake Fish, River Fish and Items. Ocean Fish can only be caught at the Beach. River Fish can only be caught in the Forest. Lake Fish can only be caught in the Mountain. Ocean fish are represented with a gray square. Lake Fish are represented with a green circle. River fish are represented by a blue triangle. Items are orange.
Items have two subcategories: Trash and Treasure Chests. Most Items are Trash. A single Trash Item can be taken if a player fails to catch fish of any kind during their Action.
The only Item that is not Trash is Treasure Chests. If a player catches a fish directly to the left of a Treasure Chest Tile, the player takes an Item Card in addition to the fish.
Fish Tiles also have two subcategories: Crab Pot Fish and Legendary Fish. Crab Pot Fish are identified by the crab trap icon on their tilecan be caught by taking the Fishing Action while one has Bug Meat in the inventory. If they do so, Crab Pot Fish are automatically caught.
Finally, There are Legendary Fish. These are identified with the golden text for their name and the Crown on their tile Normally, if a fish gets pushed off the Fishing Track or otherwise replaced, it is discarded. However, Legendary Fish go directly back in the back. Legendary Fish are important due to being mandatory to be caught for one of the Grandpa's Goals in addition to be useful as a substitute for any Fishing Bundle in the community center.
The Fishing Tile interacts with a Season Phase Icon. The "Fish Move" Season Phase Icon causes the rightmost two fish tiles to be discarded, causing the rest of the fish tile to slide to the right and the removed fish tiles to be replaced with new ones.
