Stardew Valley contains a wide variety villager NPCs. All villagers have their own unique stories, which you can find out about through interaction and gaining Friendship levels, also referred to as 'hearts'. Friendship can be raised by daily interactions and by giving loved or liked gifts to them, and for some villagers, opens the way for getting Married with the player.
Marriage Candidates
Villagers the player can give gifts to, befriend, and marry.
Giftable Villagers
Villagers the player may give gifts to and befriend, but cannot marry.
Non-Giftable Villagers
Villagers that cannot be given gifts, befriended, or married.
